Dr. Ty Ashley, MD

Dr. Ty Ashley is from Florence, AL and graduated from Mars Hill in 2003.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his medical degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency program. He moved back to the Shoals and cherished practicing with his father for almost 10 years before joining Florence Medical Associates.

His parents had moved to the Shoals in 1988 where his father Dr. Tim Ashley and his mother Pam Ashley started a medical practice. He adored growing up as the son of a family doctor and watching his father become an integral part of the community, whether it was through Rogers High School football games (where Dr. Tim was the team doc for about 30 years), church events, basketball games, or medical consults at the hardware store or Walmart.

Dr. Ty loves caring for all health care needs and takes pride in limiting the amount of medications his patients are prescribed. He loathes medical waste and unnecessary interventions. He prides himself in developing great relationships, providing what patients need (not necessarily what they may want), and educating patients with objective medical information. He really enjoys discussing nutrition/exercise, offering psychiatric care, and helping patients and their families at the end of life.

His motivation to pursue medical school mostly developed after meeting a beautiful farm girl from Hope Hull, AL while a student at Auburn. He married Brittany as soon as he could and without her support and strength would have struggled to accomplish the simplest of tasks. He remains madly in love with her and enjoys raising their brood of 5 children along her side. He loves spending time with all 5 kids-Sam, Silas, Smith, Mira Grace, and Leah Joy. Most of the time you can find him at ball games, recitals, or just trying to survive the joyous chaotic circus that is his life. His interests include fishing/hunting, mountain biking, and basically anything that takes him outside. You may also find him reading something really nerdy in the evenings when the children go to sleep.
